Another boost to our solar credentials
Posted 11 April 2017
Facilities Management is committed to applying sustainable practices from the top of our buildings, all the way down to the basements.
Over the past year, we’ve been busy implementing a range of new solar systems on roof-tops around the Kensington campus, including:
- A 112 kWp array has been installed onto Old Main (UNSW’s first building) that was connected to the grid in late 2016.
- A substantial upgrade to the Quadrangle’s solar array, up from a 43 kWp system to an impressive 100 kWp system.
Now the Quadrangle’s new PV array has been connected to the UNSW grid, our campuses have reached a new solar milestone – more than half a megawatt of generating capacity on our rooftops. To be precise, that’s 630 kWp for all campuses, with 596 kWp of this on the Kensington campus alone!
What is our next target? We have one megawatt of generating capacity in our sights and will be continuing to roll out new systems on roof-tops around the Kensington campus. Watch this space!
